Sticking with all-white in an interior space has a lot of advantages. Light and airy, you'll be left with bright spaces that feel refreshing and peaceful. Creating stunning all-white rooms isn't as easy as simply leaving out the color... Here are 3 guidelines to consider when crafting an all-white (or nearly all-white) room.
1) Focus on Texture. Create depth and visual interest with texture since the space lacks pops of color. Think a variety of materials (linen and velvet) mixed with rugs, window treatments or wall coverings and (always!) complimented with fur.
2) Choose the right White. Every color has a cool or warm undertone. Cool tones tend to have more blue undertones while warm colors have more of a yellow. Depending on the light the space gets, whites with a warm or cool tone will have a dramatic impact.
3) Edit, edit, edit. It's easy to layer in more objects when it's a monochromatic palette however resist the urge to go hoarder-crazy and focus on the items that truly give you joy and have a purpose.
The true design tip to follow: the interest in a monochromatic room comes from mixing rather than matching. See below a favorite white interior as of late that leaves us completely mesmerized.
